Who can participate in Black Convocation?
All graduating students are able to participate in the ceremony.
How do I register for Black Convocation?
By using an Evenbrite link that has been shared with all students. The link can be found on our website or in the bios of our social medias. Students will also be notified 2-3 months prior to the event about steps moving forward.
How often or when is Black Convocation?
It is hosted once a semester every spring in April/May.
Where is Black Convocation?
It is typically hosted at The McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center or the SUB Ballroom on campus.
What do students receive by participating in the ceremony?
All students receive a Kente Stole, and recognition as they cross they stage.
Can family and friends attend?
Yes, at no expense with open seating.
Does it cost money to attend or participate? Do we need a ticket?
This is a free event to TTU students. Participants only need to register using the Eventbrite link.
Can I still receive a Kente Stole if I am unable to attend?
A Complimentary Kente stole will be presented at the event to all convocation graduates that register and attend the ceremony. Students who do not register, will be able to pick up any available stoles after the convocation.
